Thank you Lord! It's my birthday It’s my birthday today the 28 th march and all I can say is thank LORD for everything. I sat down as usual to take stock of my life and try to evaluate this being called UGWA DANIEL CHIMEZIRIM. I see the world around me now, how it has  been, how it should be and how I wish it could be. Through it all, I thank God for times I had plenty and times I had nothing. The times I was happy and times I was sad. The times I gained and the times I lost. The times I was judged and criticized by too many and the  times I was celebrated by only a few. The times I loved and the times I could not love. The times I fell and the times I picked myself up. The times I made mistakes and the times I did it right. The times I felt alone and the times I felt complete. The times I did not have anyone and the times I had a family. The times I thought I had it all and the times I thought I had none. The times I thoug...

Sanusi to Jonathan: Allegations against me baseless

Image
The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, has described the allegations of financial recklessness levelled against him by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria as a malicious and calculated attempt to mislead President Goodluck Jonathan into believing that the management of the bank is guilty of misconduct and recklessness. In what can be described as his first official response to the allegations, Sanusi, in a letter to Jonathan, said that contrary to the claims by the Presidency that he was asked to respond to issues raised in the FRCN report, he only saw the “Briefing Note” of the council for the first time when it was attached to his suspension letter. In the letter, sent to the President on March 10, a copy of which was made available to journalists on Sunday, the suspended governor said at no time were the allegations in the report sent to the CBN either by the President or the FRCN for comments or explanations. He said, “On Wednesda...

The FAAC meeting, which was chaired by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Jonah Otunla, was convened to consider and approve the statutory allocations for February. Members during plenary at the floor of the Nigeria House of Representatives More revelations by the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts indicated on Thursday that the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation could not account for N35bn it collected from the Service Wide Vote within nine years. While the records of the Budget Office of the Federation showed that the OHSF received N52bn between 2004 and 2012, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Remi Adelakun, admitted only N17.6bn. The committee, which is chaired by Mr. Solomon Olamilekan, insisted on Thursday that Adelakun must explain how the N35bn was spent. At Thursday’s session, the permanent secretary and officials of the budget office had disagreed over how much the latter released to the OHSF. The records of the budget office showed that in 2004, the OHSF received N2.7bn; N9.8m in 2005; N701.7m in 2006; N896.3m in 2007; N5.3bn in 2008 and another N612.9m; and N70m in 2009.
